Growing up in Ottawa I used to occasionally see Justin Trudeau at parties and later, as we both attended McGill University at roughly the same time, I\u2019d see him in Montreal, which is all to say that I\u2019ve been high with him.<\/p>\n

Back in the early 90\u2019s, while both of us were very stoned at a frat party in Montreal, we played a game of ping-pong. Let me tell you, playing ping-pong while high is just about the funniest thing you can do in the entire universe. I don\u2019t care what dimension you\u2019re talking about. It is a blast. This is the conversation I had with the young man who would later become the Liberal leader of Canada:<\/p>\n

Me: Does your father sleep with a lot of models?<\/p>\n

Justin: He dated Christy Turlington for a couple of months.<\/p>\n

Me: She\u2019s in that George Michael video Freedom! Sexiest video ever!! Did you ever see her changing or anything?<\/p>\n

Justin: No.<\/p>\n

Me: Rip-off. Sometimes you just gotta ask yourself what the point is of having a dad who\u2019s the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

Justin: He\u2019s not the Prime Minister! It\u2019s been like a century since he was in office!<\/p>\n

Me: I think he is.<\/p>\n

Justin: No way!!!<\/p>\n

Me: You\u2019re not very informed, you’re very weak on policy.<\/p>\n

Justin: Are you high? I am really high.<\/p>\n

Me: Totally, and I can\u2019t believe Claudia Schiffer is engaged to David Copperfield. He\u2019s creepy. It\u2019s like his eyes never move.<\/p>\n

Justin: Do you remember how to serve in this game?<\/p>\n

Me: I don\u2019t think you do serve.<\/p>\n

Justin: What do you do then?<\/p>\n

Me: I need to think for a second.<\/p>\n

Justin: Oh, I know, you just bounce it over the net! (throws ball into net)<\/p>\n

Me: You have to do it again.<\/p>\n

Justin: No!! It\u2019s your serve now!<\/p>\n

Me: Swerve? What does that mean?<\/p>\n

Justin: Serve!!!<\/p>\n

Me: Stop switching between French and English, you\u2019re fucking me up!!<\/p>\n

Justin: Just throw the ball!<\/p>\n

Me: (throws the ball)<\/p>\n

Justin: (swats at ball, like a cat, with his open palm)<\/p>\n

Me: You\u2019re supposed to use the paddle!<\/p>\n

Justin: Are you sure? That doesn\u2019t feel right.<\/p>\n

Me: This is the longest ping-pong game in the history of ping-pong.<\/p>\n

Justin: I know, it\u2019s like we\u2019ve been playing for days.<\/p>\n

Me: It\u2019s an endurance sport. Who invented it, was it the Egyptians?<\/p>\n

Justin: I think they made the balls out of scarab shells and papyrus paper.<\/p>\n

Me: The Egyptians were so fucking cool.<\/p>\n

Justin: What\u2019s the score.<\/p>\n

Me: It\u2019s 9 to 3 for me.<\/p>\n
